The Kinyara Sugar Works factory employs approximately 560 permanent workers who operate the factory on a continuous 24 hour, 7 day operation for over 10 months of the year. Annual out-of-crop maintenance is carried out within a 6 - 8 week period in October/November each year. During the operating season the Factory shuts down for planned maintenance regularly to carry out essential routine maintenance and parts renewal.  To ensure continuous running, the factory operates a three rotating shift pattern of work with shift teams being supported by day staff and senior management. The Factory is divided into two sections, Engineering and Production.
