Innodis, until recently known as Happy World Foods, was founded in 1973, and is the largest of Altima’s operating companies. It employs 700 people and has around 3,000 shareholders. It is a public company, listed on the official stock exchange, and ranks among the 30 biggest companies in Mauritius.The company is the largest food and grocery wholesale distributor and services over 3000 customers and 60 hotels nation-wide, with a fleet of 40 trucks.It is also engaged in manufacturing, producing 8000 metric tons of chicken, ice-cream under a license from Nestlé/Dairymaid, yoghurt, flavoured milk and sanitary pads under license from Kimberly-Clark. It is actively pursuing a strategy to diversify further into manufacturing. It is implementing a poultry-rearing project in Mozambique and looking at Tanzania and Namibia as future poles of development in the region.Innodis is also engaged in retailing, with three cash & carry outlets under the name of SUPERCASH.One of the core competencies of Innodis is marketing and brand building.
