Our customers include almost all of South Africa's leading retail and wholesale foodservice companies as well as independent butcheries, larger plant butcheries, hunters and many of Africa's major food manufacturers.Although our roots go back over one hundred years, we are certainly not old-fashioned! We continue to move with the times, embrace change and invest in high-tech, state-of-the-art products, facilities and solutions offering only the very best to our customers.Crown National started life as Newtown Tin Works in Johannesburg, a company launched in 1912 selling Billy cans, buckets and provisions to the thriving gold mining fraternity. So successful was this venture that the company continued to grow and develop under its new name, Crown Mills, well into the 1990's.Having built a solid reputation and enjoying year-on-year growth, the company was then acquired by the dynamic Bidvest Group, which already owned the National Spice Works. Crown National was formed through the merger of these two companies, with Columbit Foods being added to the fold a while later to create a formidable player in the market place with joint interests, talents and expertise combining to provide even greater added value for customers.Our specialism in food ingredients and spices, which has been at the very heart of the company for over 100 years, will continue to be the driving force in everything that we do.We are based in various regions across South Africa and we have a dedicated Bidfood Exports Team who service the countries outside the South African borders.
