Eldohosp Pharmaceuticals Limited was started in 2004 as a wholesale division of Eldoret Hospital, which is one of the largest private hospitals in Kenya. The initial purpose for the wholesale division was to serve the needs of the pharmacies and institutions in the Rift Valley region in the supply of quality pharmaceutical formulations. We started by supplying drugs to various Tea Estates and small pharmacies/chemists in the Rift Valley region. When the demand for our services increased and spread to other regions such Nyanza, Western provinces, the decision to establish an independent company that would meet the growing demand was reached. On 23rd March 2005 the Company was registered under the name of ELDOHOSP PHARMACEUTICALS LIMITED. Towards the end of 2009 a branch office was opened in Westlands, Nairobi to mainly serve Nairobi, Central, Eastern and Coast Province. With each successive years, we have enjoyed tremendous growth and currently our customer base is over a thousand spread across the entire country. We also supply major institutions such as Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Moi University, Egerton University, Nzoia Sugar Company, Coptic Hospital, Nairobi Women’s Hospital and all major distributors in the country. We are the distributors of companies like GlaxoSmithkline, Novartis, Sanofi, Bayer E.A Limited and Pfizer amongst others. We are also the importers of Surgicals and allied products. In addition, we are the main distributors for Torrent and Microlabs. With a strong team of over 70 qualified and experienced personnel which comprises of three pharmacists, we ensure that our customer’s expectations are exceeded in line with our policy of speed and efficiency at all times. At Eldohosp Pharmaceuticals Ltd, we aspire to grow from our current multi-million US$ turnover to become the leading Total Hospital Solution Centre for all hospital requirements such as lab items, radiology and disposables.

The Central purchasing of essential drugs, medical devices and products and laboratory materials is governed by Decree No. 100/035 29 March 2000 on its creation and organization. Its main objectives are: - to ensure a good supply of essential generic medicines, medical devices, products and laboratory materials for the operation of public, private clinics and pharmacies; - Making generic essential drugs, medical devices and products and laboratory equipment available and accessible geographically and financially throughout the country; - Improve inventory management of essential generic drugs, medical devices and laboratory products and equipment and ensure cost recovery; - Stabilizing prices generic essential drugs and medical devices as well as laboratory products and equipment; - Organize in collaboration with other departments of the Ministry of Public Health, coaching managers of essential generic drugs, medical devices and products and materials laboratory; . - Perform any other activities related to its purpose Placed under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Public Health, resources consist of: - budgetary allocations of the State; - revenues from sales of drugs, devices medical, products and laboratory materials and other activities CAMEBU; - grants from cooperation agencies; - donations and regularly accepted bequests . - loans authorized in accordance with the law the budget expenditures are: - expenditures for the constitution of stocks of essential generic drugs, medical devices, laboratory products and equipment

The Council for Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa (COHSASA) is the only internationally accredited quality improvement and accreditation body for healthcare facilities based in Africa. In the past 20 years over 600 facilities throughout the continent have entered the COHSASA programme to improve the quality and safety of the healthcare services provided to patients.Through its integrated system strengthening process, COHSASA assists a range of healthcare facilities in Southern Africa to meet and maintain quality standards. This range includes hospitals, clinics, general and family practitioners, rehabilitation centres, hospices and laundries. Standards are also being developed for individual services such as sedation units and home-based care. There is a strong focus on building capacity to help healthcare professionals measure themselves against the standards.The COHSASA approach teaches healthcare workers how to monitor improvements using quality improvement methods, internationally accredited standards and a web-based information system.Strictly applied quality improvement methods can improve patient safety and the quality of care by identifying deficiencies, guiding interventions and monitoring progress. COHSASA's web-based information system identifies deficiencies and weaknesses in healthcare facilities and creates prioritised quality improvement plans to overcome them. The current ISQua accreditation award is valid until 2018. In addition, COHSASA’s hospital standards (Edition 6.7), palliative care standards and its surveyor training programme are also currently accredited by ISQua.
