The Company has been in existence in South Africa since 1968 and has undergone a number of changes through the years. In 1973 Sharp Electronics SA set up the first non-Sharp subsidiary using the Sharp name. In 1982 Seardel Investment Group acquired 100% of Sharp Electronics SA. Seartec was established in 1987 and ten years later the name Seartec Trading (Pty) was re-registered under the Seardel BEE deal. In 2008 Hosken Consolidatted Investments Ltd became the major shareholder in Seardel.
