Big 5 Distribution (Pty) Ltd. was born through the amalgamation of specialized printer and networking distribution companies and brands. Brands represented today in the printer divisions include Tally, Genicom, Citizen, C.Itoh, Fujitsu, IER, Texas Instruments and Godex whilst in the networking divisions include Lantronix, Lancast, Cyclades, D-Link, Argus, Sangoma and Troy XCD.

The newly formed Auto ID division aptly named “The Barcode Warehouse” includes brands such as Cipherlab (Scanners), Seagull Scientific (Label Software), Teklynx (Label Software) Big 5 Distribution is the only company in South Africa authorized to provide sales, services and consumables for the entire product portfolios of TallyGenicom and soon to be announced brands. Numerous other products are constantly under evaluation.

Big 5 Distribution (Pty) Ltd, formed in 1993 focuses on the distribution, services and training of Computer Printer, Networking and associated Products with supply and service offices in the major centers of Cape Town and Durban and appointed agents throughout the rest of the country. Offices in Port Elizabeth are in the process of opening.

The appointment of Big 5 Distribution as a TallyGenicom distributor, TallyGenicom ASP Service Provider and TallyGenicom Consumables Distributor has led to an increased market share in the region and continued local expansion. Sales can be contacted on sales@big5.co.za

Big 5 Distribution Provides sales, service, consumables and training throughout the territory to a select focused partner channel. New partners are regularly appointed and training and support is maintained at the highest levels.

Big 5 Distribution has established its warehousing, office, service and export facilities at the Kyalami Business Park, between Johannesburg, Pretoria and the international airport. This strategic move positions Big 5 Distribution in an easy accessible area for access to major centers, local and international freighting companies.

Consolidation of the travel, Airline and Freighting products continues. Johannesburg International Airport and regional airports now boasts significant IER (previously Texas Instruments and Genicom) equipment at the departure halls and other operational areas. Specialized equipment for ticket printing, baggage labels and boarding pass capabilities are also being utilized.

The Service Division has expanded it's facilities to include all vendor's printer products including Tally, Genicom, Citizen, CBM, HP, Epson, Fujitsu, C.Itoh, IER, Texas Instruments, Lexmark, Seikosha and IBM. The Service Division has established a name in the market for reliable, focused and professional services. The expanded service division also caters for multi-vendor product field support, depot repair, express parts and professional services. 

Warranty service is also available for all products represented.

In 1999 the C.Itoh brand name was added to enable the company to focus on the growing label and bar code markets and numerous major contracts have concluded enabling the company to exploit the new market. Citizen, as the OEM manufacturer of C.Itoh has since been added and taken over the entire product range. 

Continued demand for high quality, heavy-duty line, impact, laser, travel and label printers continues in all spheres of industry and government. Big 5 Distribution will continue to focus on developing the business with the introduction of new best of breed products and services in the Computer Printing Industry.

In May 2000, Big 5 Distribution acquired the entire business of Edit (Pty) Ltd., a company focused on the supply of specialized network and printer support products representing Lantronix, Lancast / Metrobility, Cyclades, D-Link, Argus, Trendnet, Sangoma and Troy-XCD enabling the group to further add value to it's printer and network solutions. This division has continued to show good growth.

2001 was an exciting year with the distribution rights for Citizen and Fujitsu being awarded to the Big 5 Group.

Big 5 Distribution is the only company in South Africa authorized to provide sales, services and consumables for the entire product portfolios of TallyGenicom.

Big 5 Distribution continues to focus on its core business of Computer Printer, Network Products, Consumables and Services and will continue to search for suitable products that compliment the range of these products and services and meet the needs of our customers.
