Member of the Diamond Merchant's Arbitration Committee. Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the South African Diamond Industry. Member of The World Federation of Diamond Bourses.

Products and Services
In 2002 Poggenpoel Diamonds revolutionized the local rough diamond trading market by introducing one of the first tender-houses of its kind in Southern Africa. The tender house system has connected buyers, producers (mines) and traders into an effortless, integrated system for buying and selling diamonds in a huge, transparent and truly international diamond ecosystem.

Up to 30 000 carats (cts) of locally and globally sourced rough diamonds are on tender monthly at our premises in Johannesburg. Rough diamond dealers from Belgium, Israel, India, USA, Russia etc fly in to bid on these large selections of rough diamonds. Great supplier relationships have been built up over the years enabling us to source rough diamonds at very competitive prices, from reputable diamond dealers that are able to supply all the necessary documents (Kimberley Process-certificates) to guarantee that no conflict diamonds are on sale at our premises. Diamond Cutting Factory The rough diamonds we source are polished/cut on our premises, under full specialized supervision to ensure the greatest of care is taken with every diamond.

All polished diamonds are sent to independent diamond grading laboratories to be quality graded and authenticated. To ensure great peace of mind for our customers; full independent (international in most cases) laboratory grading reports are available for all diamonds over 0.30cts. Wholesale Polished Diamond Distributor Over 90% of the diamonds we polish/cut are distributed on consignment basis to local jewellers.

We currently supply over 300 South African jewellers with diamonds of all colors and clarities ranging from 0.01ct up to 5ct. We also stock a large selection of top quality Tanzanite ranging from 1ct up to 20ct.

Diamond Jewellery Manufacturer
The jewellery manufacturing plant is on-site with our average goldsmith having over 30 years of experience in jewellery manufacturing. To ensure a total quality managed production environment not a single element of the manufacturing process is outsourced.

Unique Competences as Jewellery Manufacturer
Palladium Jewellery Manufacturing Palladium is currently a very popular metal choice in Europe and USA with some recent survey's pitching it as the number one choice for jewellery in these markets. Very few jewellers in South Africa manufacture in this popular noble metal due to the complexities involved in the palladium casting process. The only resistance to the metal has been due to bad-mouthing by jewellers that don't have the knowledge, skill and equipment to properly work in palladium.

Not only have we invested heavily in the best casting and finishing equipment available internationally; we have spent years mastering the art of casting palladium, adjusting every controllable variable of the manufacturing mix to ensure our palladium jewellery is on par with the highest international benchmarks.

Palladium, being part of the platinum group of metals, shares all the benefits of platinum (strength, durability, white appearance, being hypoallergenic)... but currently sells at a third of the price. When compared to 18ct white gold, it is superior in every possible way, and even trades at a lower price-point. Due to the popularity the metal has gained locally, 95% of the jewellery we manufacture and supply is palladium jewellery.

We also manufacture jewellery in platinum, 18 carat white and yellow gold.

Usage of Cutting Edge Technologies
We currently use the latest in computer aided manufacturing (CAM) and design (CAD) technologies. We have the capacity to print, mould and cast around 25 rings per 24 hour cycle. The German made rapid prototyping machine we use for building wax models is regarded as the absolute benchmark in the jewellery and dental industry. The wax prototypes we create for casting are printed to a resolution of 25 microns per layer, resulting in unsurpassable detail and precision in our final products.

Using the latest version of V-Ray rendering software we can offer the customer full photo-realistic renderings of the what the finished jewellery item will look like - before manufacturing commences. Knowing exactly how the finished product will look creates great peace of mind and confidence.

After a large, unfruitful local talent hunt for innovative and technically knowledgeable jewellery designers we teamed up with an international multi-award winning design team that enables us to offer fresh, high quality designs previously unknown to the local market. Vertical Integration of diamond supply To our knowledge we are the only local jewellery manufacturer with on-site diamond cutting and polishing activities.

By having this extremely short external supply-chain we achieve great cost savings that are directly passed onto the end-consumer. Furthermore, this strategic integration offers us great control over the quality of the product from the selection of rough materials to the polishing of the final jewellery pieces.

Poggenpoel Diamond Jewellers is committed to serving the local market with the freshest, most elegant jewellery designs, crafted to the highest of international standards and offered at a fair price. By having an e-commerce focus we can cut out many of the overheads of traditional jewellers. We don't need very expensive store fronts, jewellery items are manufactured on a just-in-time basis, we don't have to keep double staff-teams to accommodate the straining operating hours malls impose on businesses. Our pricing structure is much more competitive than those offered by traditional jewellers. Through close supplier relationships, extreme vertical integration and a just-in-time focus we can certainly sustain the attractive pricing structure we currently offer.
