In 1971 he brought his wife and stayed for good. In the country of almost unlimited opportunities he started his own electrical shop but later joined a large company where he remained for 25 years. At the same time he and his wife also ran their own restaurant in downtown Windhoek for a while. In addition, Fritz Pfaffenthaler was Austria's honorary consul in Namibia from 1989 until 1995.
