Menengai Soap Factory Limited was started up in 1988 following a 30 year long and successful business in drapery, carpets and upholstery. A significant amount of success in the soap industry led the company to venture into vegetable cooking fat production in 1994. The latest technology - continuous physical oil refinery and shortening plant were commissioned in March 1997 and lead to the present Menengai Oil Refineries Limited.
