Tactile Technologies was established late in 2001. In the course of 2002 it acquired the sole distribution rights for the Elo TouchSystems brand. It currently holds the Value Add Distributor status which means it is authorized and trained to do all repairs locally. It is also an accreditation of being able to custom develop touch screen based solutions. Tactile is the sole Elo distributor in Africa and has exclusivity for Sub Saharan Africa including the Indian Ocean Islands. Tactile added the Winmate Communications product range to its offering in 2005.

Winmate is an expert in LCD-based technology and solutions. Tactile is Winmate’s preferred business partner for the area and has many years of experience in dealing with Winmate and its products. MediaTile 3G Cellular Digital Signage is the third and newest vendor under the Tactile roof. MediaTile is an acknowledged worldwide leader in digital signage and is rapidly expanding its distribution network throughout the world. MediaTile’ Digital Sign in a Box™ is a turnkey digital signage solution that provides an instant jumpstart into the rapidly emerging era of “narrowcasting” and digital signage networks.

Centrally controlled by MediaTile's Web-based Broadcast Portal, MediaTile 42” Digital-Sign-in-a-Box systems include everything necessary to receive, store, and play digital promotions over the internet, including cellular broadband networks. Just plug them in to any power outlet and they instantly connect and begin to play promotions! Tactile has recently launched Touch Tools, a self service solutions platform which focuses on the industry and not the end-user. A first for Africa, it is another way of Tactile educating the market and developing its channel.

Tactile Technologies has offices in Cape Town, Centurion and also Nairobi – Kenya. A distributor is located in KZN and resellers can be found throughout Africa. Tactile Technologies East Africa is the first Tactile office outside South Africa.

The branch is based in Nairobi from where it will market, distribute and support the entire Tactile range throughout Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
