The Churchgate Group was founded in 1968, to boost the industrial and trading sectors of Nigeria. We embarked on the start up of greenfield industries and acquired several more when companies were privatised. Slowly but surely, we succeeded in becoming one of the leading industrial conglomerates in the country.In the process, we also secured a significant market share in the trading of commodities; this continues to be one of our core businesses over the years.After the Nigerian government signed the 1998 WTO protocol, the industrial sector began to slow down. The issue of porous borders was also a major concern. Together, this forced us to reassess our focus.Building on our core strengths and goodwill, we have now made considerable inroads into the real estate and financial sectors. We intend to approach these areas with planned development and calculated growth while maintaining the superior standards and performance expected of us. We are also committed to upholding environmental and ethical best practices.Currently, the Group is investing in hospitality, residential and commercial real estate. We have also acquired core investor positions in two leading Nigerian banks. All this, we see as the beginning of an exciting journey ahead.The economic and social environment is also in our favour.
