R. McDiarmid & Company is a wholly owned Zimbabwean Company founded in early 1952 by Mr. Ronald McDiarmid as a small sheet metal fabrication company. This one- man operation specialized in the manufacture of guttering, rainwater piping, storage tanks and other similar products. For Over 60 years the Company has always regarded itself as a light engineering concern, and has always been able to apply its manpower skills and machinery in a most flexible way. In the working of ferrous and non-ferrous raw materials, the Company offers a wide range of products to suit all sectors of Commerce and Industry, contractor and end-user alike.In 1968 a subsidiary Company – Solamatics (Pvt) Ltd. was established to pioneer the introduction of solar water heating in Zimbabwe. This was the beginning of a long standing reputation in all fields of renewable energy.Location & FacilitiesIn 1972 R. McDiarmid & Co moved to a new site in Graniteside which has developed in stages to the current 2850 square metre factory and offices.Carefully planned Plant Maintenance and Acquisition Programmes have resulted in the Company being able to offer flexible low volume, high precision production suitable for local market and beyond using CNC machine. In this regard it has found considerable new business in providing support to the electrical, mining and fabricating industries, in addition to more precise production of the in-house range of products.ProductionOur production thrust is always customer driven and we consider no order too big or too small. R. McDiarmid & Company is very flexible in meeting customer’s requirements and expectations.
